One of the materials we use is EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate), a lightweight, durable and cushioning material available in different densities to suit varying support and comfort requirements.

From Foot Assessment to Custom Orthotic

The process begins with a comprehensive podiatric and biomechanical assessment. Your podiatrist evaluates your foot structure, alignment, gait and presenting symptoms to determine the design and functional requirements of your orthotic device.

Using the patient’s foot impression scan and prescribed orthotic design, the manufacturing process translates the individualised contours and specifications into a digital model. This model guides the milling machine as it precisely carves the orthotic shape from a block of EVA material.

Precision Milling in Our Workshop

Our milling machine follows the digital design to shape the EVA, creating the required contours, thicknesses and support features specified for the individual device. The material’s density and characteristics are selected according to the intended function of the orthotic.

Once milling is complete, the device is checked, finished and assessed against the prescribed design. Further adjustments can be made where required to help achieve the intended fit and function.
